The RISD Illustration department reached out to RISD Media Group to design and develop an identity, website, and additional collateral for the launch of a new MFA program. The core idea the department wanted the design to convey was “discovery,” which we interpreted visually with a diffused spotlight revealing illustrations behind the text. This allowed the text to remain legible while introducing a unique design element. To increase accessibility, we introduced an optional high-contrast mode.
I lead the design on the project with art direction from Huy Vu, working closely with staff writer Rob Albanese, to make sure the writing and the design both reflected the vision of the Illustration department. Additionally, I developed the spotlight interaction for the site's frontend.
